Drake’s Official Release Date For ICEMAN
Fans in Toronto have taken an unconventional approach to uncovering details about Drake’s upcoming album, ICEMAN, attempting to break apart a promotional ice sculpture believed to contain key information about the release.
The artist has now officially confirmed that ICEMAN will arrive on Friday, May 15. The date was reportedly discovered by Twitch streamer Kishka, who located a blue bag embedded within the frozen installation. Inside, the release date had been concealed as part of the album’s rollout.
Earlier in the week, Drake hinted via his Instagram Story that the release date would be revealed once the sculpture melted. While the date has now surfaced, additional details—such as the tracklist—have yet to be disclosed, and it remains uncertain whether more items are hidden within the structure.
The contents of the recovered bag also included an image of a white T-shirt bearing the phrase “2026 will be my year,” along with a blurred selfie of the artist.
The sculpture, installed in Toronto on Monday morning, quickly drew crowds after word spread that it held clues. Some fans arrived equipped with tools like ice picks and blow torches in an effort to accelerate the melting process. Speaking to Pitchfork, Professor Valentin Crépel of the University of Toronto explained that such methods could indeed speed things up. He noted that physically removing ice increases surface roughness, which enhances heat transfer from both sunlight and surrounding air. However, he estimated that melting the entire structure would require approximately 70 gigajoules of energy and could still take up to two weeks.
Despite the buzz surrounding the installation, Drake has remained relatively quiet about the album’s full scope. In 2025, he released several singles tied to the project, including “What Did I Miss?,” “Which One” featuring Central Cee, and “Dog House” featuring Yeat and Julia Wolf.
ICEMAN will mark Drake’s first solo album since his widely discussed feud with Kendrick Lamar in 2024. He previously collaborated with PARTYNEXTDOOR on the 2025 project $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, which included tracks like “Nokia,” “Gimme a Hug,” and “Somebody Loves Me.”
